The Barking Lodge Primary & Infant School has been focused on the goal of offering introductory computer training and community access to computers and the internet at the school. The Resource Center will serve as a vital hub for students, staff and community, providing essential technological resources and support to enhance learning, research and productivity. Technological Literacy - The center aims to enhance digital literacy and numeracy skills among students, staff and community, ensuring they are well-prepared in a technological driven world.
Enhanced learning - By providing access to advanced technology and educational resources, the center will promote a dynamic learning environment that empowers students to excel academically. Research Excellence: By offering access to extensive research databases and tools, the center will contribute to the school’s and community’s research efforts and academic achievements.
Collaborative Learning - Through its collaborative spaces and technologically-enabled group activities, representatives in the center will encourage teamwork, creativity and interdisciplinary collaboration.
Supportive Environment - The center’s technical support and training services will create a supportive atmosphere that fosters confidence in using technology effectively. Conclusion - The Computer resource Center at Barking Lodge Primary & Infant will play a pivotal role in providing the school community with the tools and resources needed to thrive in an increasingly digital world. A threefold impact is expected: increased computer literacy for residents; improved school performance for students and opportunities for the under-educated/under-employed to gain valuable skills. Each element will contribute to increasing the work productivity and efficiency of participants
The Barking Lodge Primary & Infant School expects to complete and open its Computer Resource Centre by January 2024. A wide range of services will be provided, including paid internet and email access, instructional classes and training and support services like printing, copying and scanning, instructional classes and support services will carry a fee. The Computer Centre’s operational hours will be 9 a.m to 4p.m, Mondays to Fridays. Management will be provided by the School Board and its advisors.
The computer Resource Center at Barking Lodge Primary & Infant will be equipped with state-of-the-art facilities designed to meet the diverse needs of the school and community; The center will encompass:
These will include the latest hardware and software in a controlled environment for tasks ranging from basic computer literacy to advanced programming and multimedia production
Distributed throughout the center, these workstations will provide individual access to computers and resources for quick tasks or in-depth research.
Students can access online databases, academic journals and research tools to facilitate their academic endeavors
The center will host a repository of educational videos, tutorials and eBooks, enabling self-directed learning.

Much of the sustainability is built into the project with technical services which will be provided by the equipment supplier which will include a 36-month warranty on each PC unit. Principal, HEART TRUST and LEGGS workers and community volunteers will assist with computer training. Also, a HEART certified computer technician who lives in the community has already contributed his services and is eager to continue. Electrical and security costs will be funded by the Ministry of Education. Training and printing services will be conducted with a fee, on the programming side, HEART Trust has a long history of successful certification programs that Jamaicans have used for many years. Additionally, the School Board has formed a Management Committee to handle the administrative, scheduling and marketing aspects of the total project.
The Barking Lodge Primary & Infant school will benefit enormously from the support of the NCB Foundation, who will provide computers and furniture, more technology will mean a great deal for all aspects of the population. Citizens from all generations are expecting to learn how to use computers and the internet; artists have inquired about graphic design training; students will have tools to improve their performance in school, and the under-educated and unemployed will have a ready tool to improve their circumstances.

At Barking Lodge Primary, we believe in a student-centered approach to teaching and learning. Our teachers focus on individual student needs and interests, and use a variety of teaching methods to engage and challenge our students.
All of our teachers are highly qualified and experienced professionals with degrees in their respective fields. They undergo regular professional development and training to stay up-to-date with the latest teaching practices and technologies.
We believe that homework should be purposeful and relevant to the learning objectives of each course. Our teachers assign homework as needed to reinforce classroom learning, and provide feedback to students to help them improve their understanding and skills.
